Hey, welcome to EC2 Excel!

We know Terms of Service pages can feel like homework you didn't ask for. So we've written ours to be clear, honest, and — dare we say — actually readable. The short version: use the platform to learn, play fair, and you'll have a great time. The longer version is below. Either way, by using EC2 Excel, you're agreeing to these terms.

1. Who We Are

EC2 Excel is an online exam revision platform offering syllabus-specific past papers, study materials, and AI-powered grading and feedback. We're operated by EC2 Limited, a company incorporated in Hong Kong (company number 79142069-000-11-25).

When we say "EC2 Excel", "we", "us", or "our", we mean EC2 Limited. When we say "you" or "your", we mean you — the student, parent, educator, or institution using our platform.

These Terms govern everything to do with your use of our website at www.ec2excel.com, our app, and any related services (collectively, the "Services").

2. Who Can Use EC2 Excel

EC2 Excel is built for students, parents, teachers, and schools preparing for recognised international and local examinations — including IGCSE, GCSE, A Level, DSE, and other syllabuses we support from time to time.

If you're under 13: EC2 Excel is not intended or designed for children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under that age. If you are under 13 and wish to use the platform, please ask a parent or legal guardian to do so on your behalf.

If you're under 18: You should have the permission of a parent or guardian before using the Services. By using EC2 Excel, you confirm that you are either 18 or older, or that a parent or guardian is aware of and has permitted your use.

For schools and institutions: If you're signing up on behalf of an organisation, the person creating the account represents that they have authority to bind the organisation to these Terms.

3. Your Account

Keeping it secure: Some features require you to register an account. When you do, please:

  • Provide accurate and up-to-date information (your real email address, etc.)
  • Choose a strong, unique password
  • Keep your login details confidential — don't share them with anyone else

You're responsible for everything that happens under your account. If you ever suspect your account has been compromised, let us know immediately at support@ec2excel.com and we'll help you sort it out.

We're not responsible for any loss or damage that results from someone accessing your account because your credentials weren't kept safe.

4. What You Can (and Can't) Do

You're very welcome to:

  • Access past papers, study materials, and revision resources for your personal learning
  • Submit exam papers and practice answers to receive AI-powered feedback
  • Share your own progress and results with your teachers, tutors, or parents
  • Use EC2 Excel as much as you like within your subscription plan

Please don't:

  • Copy or redistribute our content — study notes, question banks, AI feedback frameworks, and other materials are protected. Don't copy, republish, or sell them.
  • Reverse-engineer the platform — don't try to extract our source code, algorithms, or underlying technology.
  • Use bots or scrapers — automated tools that harvest or download content aren't allowed.
  • Share your account — each account is for one person. Sharing login credentials or reselling access is a breach of these Terms.
  • Disrupt the platform — please don't do anything that interferes with the Services or other users' experience.
  • Use EC2 Excel for anything unlawful — that includes infringing third-party rights, uploading harmful content, or doing anything that causes harm to others.

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate access for anyone who doesn't play by the rules.

5. Subscriptions and Payment

Free and paid plans: Some features are available for free; others require a paid Subscription. Details of our plans and pricing are always available at www.ec2excel.com/pricing.

Stripe as Payment Processor: All paid Subscriptions are processed by Stripe, Inc. ("Stripe"), who acts as our payment processor. When you purchase a Subscription, your contract for the Services is with EC2 Limited, and your payment is processed by Stripe in accordance with Stripe's Consumer Terms. Stripe handles payment processing on our behalf.

Here's what you need to know:

  • Fees are payable in advance and are generally non-refundable, except as set out in our Refund Policy below or as required by applicable law.
  • Prices may change. We'll give you at least 30 days' notice before any fee change takes effect. Continuing to use the Services after that date means you accept the new pricing.
  • Applicable sales tax, VAT, or GST will be added where required. The price you see at checkout includes any applicable taxes for your region.

If you have any billing questions, just email support@ec2excel.com — we're happy to help.

Refund Policy

EU/EEA/UK statutory right of withdrawal: If you are based in the EU, EEA, or UK, you have a statutory 14-day right to cancel a new Subscription from the date of purchase. To exercise this right, email us at support@ec2excel.com and we'll help you through the process.

Subscription renewals: If your Subscription has auto-renewed and you didn't mean for it to, contact us at support@ec2excel.com within 14 days of the renewal charge. We'll review your case and, where eligible, process a refund.

Goodwill refunds: Outside of statutory rights and renewal issues, we assess refund requests on a case-by-case basis. We reserve the right to decline a refund where we reasonably determine that the Services have been actively used in the relevant period.

Sales tax refunds: If you believe you were charged sales tax incorrectly, please contact us with your payment receipt and we'll investigate on your behalf.

How to request a refund: Email support@ec2excel.com with your account email address, your Stripe receipt or transaction ID, and a brief note on what happened. We aim to respond within 5 business days.

6. AI Grading and Feedback

What our AI does: This is one of the things that makes EC2 Excel special. You submit exam answers; our AI analyses them and gives you scores, comments, and personalised suggestions — all aligned to the relevant syllabus and mark scheme.

What you should know: AI Feedback is a learning tool, not an official result. It's designed to help you understand where you're doing well and where there's room to improve. It does not constitute a formal examination result or an official assessment by any examination board.

AI is powerful, but not perfect. It may occasionally:

  • Misinterpret handwriting, formatting, or question context
  • Give feedback that doesn't precisely match a specific exam board's latest marking guidelines
  • Vary in accuracy depending on subject, question type, or the quality of what you submit

The bottom line: Use AI Feedback as a smart study companion, not as the final word. We always recommend cross-checking with your teacher or tutor, especially for tricky questions.

Fair usage: AI grading is provided on a fair usage basis. We apply reasonable daily limits on submissions to ensure a good experience for all users. These limits are set well above normal student usage — you're unlikely to encounter them during regular revision. If unusually high or sustained usage is detected, we reserve the right to pause or suspend access to AI grading pending review. If you believe you've been incorrectly limited or suspended, please contact support.

7. Your Submitted Materials

Your work stays yours: Any exam answers, practice papers, or other materials you upload ("Submitted Materials") remain your property.

By uploading them, you give us a limited licence to process and analyse them solely for the purpose of delivering AI Feedback to you. We won't use your Submitted Materials for any other purpose without your explicit consent.

No AI training: We do not use your Submitted Materials to train AI models. Your submissions are used solely to generate feedback for you, and for no other purpose.

A few things we ask of you:

  • Only upload materials you own or have the right to submit
  • Don't upload anything that infringes someone else's copyright
  • Don't upload unlawful, offensive, or harmful content

We reserve the right to remove any Submitted Materials that violate these Terms.

8. Our Content and Intellectual Property

What's ours: All content on EC2 Excel — including study notes, question banks, AI feedback frameworks, designs, logos, and trademarks — is owned by or licensed to EC2 Limited and is protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws. You may not reproduce, modify, distribute, or commercially exploit any of our content without our prior written consent.

Third-party examination content: Past papers and syllabus materials from examination boards such as Cambridge Assessment International Education, Pearson Edexcel, and the Hong Kong Examinations and Assessment Authority remain the intellectual property of their respective owners. We provide access to such content in accordance with relevant licences and permissions, which may be subject to change.

Our brand: The EC2 Excel name, logo, and brand marks are trademarks of EC2 Limited. Please don't use them without asking us first.

9. Privacy and Your Data

We take your privacy seriously. Our full Privacy Policy — which explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights — is available at www.ec2excel.com/privacy.

By using EC2 Excel, you agree to our Privacy Policy. A few highlights:

  • We only collect data we actually need to provide the Services
  • We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to keep your data safe
  • If you're under 18, a parent or guardian should be aware of your use of the Services. We may apply additional safeguards for younger users in accordance with applicable law
  • We do not use your data or Submitted Materials to train AI models
  • You have rights over your data — see our Privacy Policy for details

10. Academic Integrity

A word on using AI responsibly: EC2 Excel is built to help you learn better — not to help you cut corners. Using our AI Feedback to understand your mistakes, practise under timed conditions, and identify your weak spots is exactly what we're here for.

However, submitting AI-generated work as your own to an educational institution may violate your school's academic integrity or anti-plagiarism policies. That's between you and your institution — EC2 Excel is not responsible for any academic disciplinary consequences that may arise from how you choose to use the platform.

We trust you to use EC2 Excel as the learning tool it was designed to be.

11. Third-Party Links

Our platform may include links to third-party websites (for example, examination board websites or external resources). These links are provided for your convenience only. We don't control or endorse third-party content, and your use of any external site is at your own risk and subject to that site's own terms.

12. Changes to the Platform

We're always working to make EC2 Excel better. That means we may from time to time:

  • Add new features or subjects
  • Update, modify, or remove existing content or tools
  • Change how AI Feedback works
  • Carry out scheduled or emergency maintenance

Where changes are material, we'll do our best to give you reasonable notice. But we can't always predict when things need to change, so we don't guarantee advance notice in every case.

If you're not happy with a change, you can cancel your Subscription and stop using the Services. Continuing to use EC2 Excel after a change means you accept it.

13. Our Promises (and Their Limits)

We put a lot of care into EC2 Excel — here's what we promise, and where our limits are.

We promise to:

  • Work hard to keep the platform available, reliable, and useful
  • Make AI Feedback as accurate and helpful as we can
  • Keep improving based on user feedback
  • Treat your data with care and respect

What we can't guarantee:

  • That the Services will always be uninterrupted or error-free
  • That AI Feedback will perfectly match any particular exam board's marking scheme
  • That using EC2 Excel will guarantee a specific exam grade (we wish we could!)
  • That all Content is always fully up-to-date with the latest syllabus changes

The Services are provided "as is" and "as available". We make no warranties, express or implied, beyond what's stated here or required by law.

14. Liability — The Legal Bit

We've tried to make this section as painless as possible.

To the fullest extent permitted by Hong Kong law, EC2 Limited will not be liable for:

  • Indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages
  • Loss of data, profits, revenue, or business opportunities
  • Any outcome from relying on AI Feedback
  • Loss or damage to Submitted Materials
  • Any harm arising from your use of (or inability to use) the Services

Our total liability to you in connection with these Terms will not exceed the amount you've paid us in the 3 months before the event giving rise to the claim.

Nothing here limits liability for: fraud, wilful misconduct, or death or personal injury caused by our negligence — because the law doesn't allow us to do that, and we wouldn't want to anyway.

15. If Things Go Wrong

Your responsibility to us: If your use of EC2 Excel causes a claim against us by a third party — for example, because you uploaded infringing content, violated someone's rights, or breached these Terms — you agree to cover EC2 Limited's reasonable costs, losses, and legal fees in connection with that claim.

Resolving disputes: We'd much rather sort things out informally. If you have a problem, email us at support@ec2excel.com and we'll aim to respond within 14 business days. Most things can be resolved with a conversation.

16. Suspending or Ending Your Account

If we need to act: We may suspend or terminate your account without notice if:

  • You breach these Terms
  • We suspect fraud, abuse, or illegal activity
  • We're required to by law

We'll always try to act reasonably and, where possible, give you a chance to resolve the issue first.

If you want to leave: You can close your account at any time by emailing support@ec2excel.com. We'll be sad to see you go, but we'll make it easy.

Note: Closing your account doesn't automatically entitle you to a refund of prepaid subscription fees, except where required by law.

17. Updating These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do:

  • We'll post the updated version at www.ec2excel.com/terms with a new effective date
  • For material changes, we'll give you at least 30 days' notice by email or in-app notification
  • Continuing to use EC2 Excel after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms

If you disagree with any changes, the right thing to do is stop using the Services and cancel your Subscription.

18. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Hong Kong. Any disputes arising from or relating to these Terms or the Services will be subject to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the Hong Kong courts.

If you prefer, we're always happy to try to resolve things through conversation first — just reach out at support@ec2excel.com.

19. The Fine Print

A few housekeeping items:

  • Assignment: We can transfer our rights and obligations under these Terms to a successor or affiliate. You can't transfer yours without our written consent.
  • Severability: If any part of these Terms turns out to be unenforceable, the rest stays in full effect.
  • No waiver: If we don't enforce a particular term at a given time, that doesn't mean we've given it up permanently.
  • No third-party rights: Only you and EC2 Limited have rights under these Terms. No one else does, as per the Contracts (Rights of Third Parties) Ordinance (Cap. 623) of Hong Kong.
  • Entire agreement: These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy and any Subscription terms, are the whole deal between us.
  • Language: These Terms are in English. If there's ever a translated version and something doesn't match up, the English version wins.
